    Description
    Gather all of your Tools. Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Place wet floor or caution Signs in appropriate areas. Mix appropriate chemicals, disinfectants, glass cleaners, general purpose cleaners. Remove the drive block(s) and Rinse the brushes and clean any debris that may be caught in the bristles. Dry and set aside. Rinse and clean squeegee assembly. Dry and set aside. Drain the cleaning solution from the solution tank and rinse out with fresh water. Drain the recovery tank and rinse out with fresh water to clean the debris that has collected in the recovery tank. Spray cleaning solution into rag/towel/wipe and wipe all equipment down. Polish any exposed metal areas with a metal cleaner. Wipe cords starting from the machine outward to the plug. Check batteries for levels. If the levels need to be topped off check with the manual that comes with the equipment in question, or contact your supervisor on the correct procedures. If need be, charge the unit according to the directions. Lastly, Report any items that are in need of repair or replacement such as, hinges, batteries, squeegees, hoses, cords, etcetera.

    What to do: Rinse surface with fresh clean water.
    Why: To remove gross debris that has built up.
    Reason: To allow the equipment to function without gross soil build up.

    Spray
    What to do: Spray cleaning solution into a rag/towel/wipe and wipe all equipment down.
    Why: To remove spots and clean areas that are visibly dirty.
    Reason: This keeps the equipment looking and working like new.

    Report
    What to do: Make a list of repairs.
    Why: So broken items can be repaired. Such as, hinges, batteries, squeegees, hoses, cords, etcetera.
    Reason: To keep a facility in peak condition.

    It is of the utmost importance to keep machines and equipment looking new and in working order. Custodial, janitorial, and service oriented companies are at the mercy of not only being a "visually" clean society. The adage "it looks clean so it must be clean" is so ingrained in today’s society that the appearance of well maintained equipment also carries over to a well kept facility.
