Extract the carpet by double passing and having at least a one inch overlap. When finished allow carpet to Dry fully before introducing traffic to the area. Clean Up the equipment after use.

    PPE
What to do: Wear protective equipment, such as goggles or safety glasses, and gloves.
Why: To protect yourself from chemical contact.
Reason: To reduce the risk of having an adverse reaction to chemical that one has come into contact with.

    Signs
What to do: Place wet floor signs in appropriate areas and use barrier tape where needed.
Why: To alert passers by that there is a wet floor or that there is work in progress.
Reason: To protect passers by from slip and fall incidents.

    Vacuum
What to do: Vacuum area that will be treated.
Why: To pick up debris and soil that may be in the carpet.
Reason: To prevent staining and excess soil from soaking into the carpet.

    Spot
What to do: Spot clean areas that are heavily spotted such as, coffee stains, juice, food, and etcetera.
Why: To reduce the amount of soil that will remain in the carpet after extraction.
Reason: Spotters are highly concentrated cleaners that will attack a concentrated area of staining, where as presprays are for areas that have patterns trafficked into them.

    Prespray
    What to do: Prespray carpet.
Why: The prespray will work on the soils in heavily trafficked areas.
Reason: Allows the chemical to facilitate the cleaning process by helping to break down the soils.

    Mix
What to do: Mix extraction cleaner according to directions. NO MORE, NO LESS.
Why: Properly mixed chemical will perfom better.
Reason: Chemical that is mixed properly will react better with the environment it was intended to work with.

    Extract
What to do: Extract floor with double passes and overlaps.
Why: The first pass is with chemical and vacuum. The second pass is only with the vacuum. Overlapping prevents streaks or missed areas.
Reason: The passes help reduce the amount of water and chemical left in the carpet. The overlapping guarantees that there are no areas of the carpet that are left unclean.

    Dry
What to do: Allow carpet to dry before introducing traffic to the floor. Place a fan on the carpet to facilitate dry time.
Why: The fan will facilitate dry time.
Reason: By speeding up dry time one reduces the chances of mold and re-soiling from traffic.

    Clean Up
What to do: Rinse and wash all equipment.
Why: So the equipment will be clean and uncontaminated for the next use.
Reason: Clean equipment represents the people that use it and extends the life of the equipment.

When carpet is drying one may also apply a browning retardant to prevent browning on lighter carpets.
